“Altel” JSC fined 1000 MSPs (Monthly Settlement Parameter) for unfair competition.  

It was considered to bring an action against the “Altel” JSC in administrative violation by the Agency’s Board resolution # 192-БҚ of November 3, 2009, after investigation conducted. The “Altel” JSC is accused of unfair competition since the company advertised false pricing for the “Pathword” tariff (“Perevooruzhaisya” campaign).        

The investigation showed that this JSC, when launching this campaign, announced that calls for this tariff’s subscribers were free during the whole subscription period, in case if customers subscribed before August 31, 2004. However, July 1, 2009, the JSC announced that the pricing for this tariff would be changed starting from August 1, 2009, where beginning from the 301^st minute the monthly tariff would cost 5 tenge per minute, and SMS would cost 9 tenge for customers of this subscription.           

The fine specified by the Article 147-4 of the “On Administrative Violations” Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan estimated 1 296 000 tenge.
